The most diligent young physics enthusiasts receive ISSP UL prizes at the 48th Latvian Open Physics Olympiad

At the end of March, the 48th Latvian Open Physics Olympiad participants were congratulated at the University of Latvia’s House of Sciences. The ISSP UL awarded the most diligent young physics enthusiasts with useful prizes.

The 48th Latvian Open Physics Olympiad took place on 12 February in Rīga, Daugavpils, Liepāja, and Ventspils. A total of 267 pupils from all over Latvia from grades 8-12 took part in the Open Physics Olympiad.

The Latvian Open Physics Olympiad aims to stimulate participants’ interest in physics, encourage participants’ advanced knowledge of physics and their research and experimental skills and promote opportunities for studying in physics-related university programmes.

The Olympiad is organized and managed by the Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Optometry of the University of Latvia in collaboration with the Department of Information Technology of the University of Latvia and the Latvian Physics Teachers Association.

The target audience of the Olympiad is students who study physics in primary or secondary education programs, regardless of their performance in physics and participation in other educational competitions and Olympiads.
