On March 19, Riga State Gymnasium No. 1 students visited the ISSP UL to explore the institute’s accomplishments, research initiatives, and daily functions.
During their visit, the ISSP UL delivered an informative presentation about the institute. The students toured several laboratories, including the Micro and Nanodevices Lab, Optical Materials Lab, Spectroscopy Lab, and Energy Materials Lab.
ISSP UL has a longstanding tradition of hosting interactive excursions for students, allowing them to experience the work of scientists, hands-on experiments, and advanced equipment. These visits aim to highlight the real-world applications of physics and spark interest in scientific professions.
The trip to ISSP UL offered profound insights into the practical side of physics and research. Through engaging discussions and laboratory visits, the Riga State Gymnasium No. 1 students better understood the institute’s activities and career prospects in physics. Future events and programs will continue to provide further learning opportunities.
Students eager to delve deeper into the ISSP UL experience were invited to join upcoming events such as the Latvian Physics Festival, where the ISSP UL will participate to showcase some of the most visually attractive experiments the attendees will be welcome to join in, and the Solar Cup competition that the ISSP UL organizes for school youth. Students were also encouraged to apply for Job Shadow Day 2024 at the ISSP UL, which presents a chance to observe physicists in their daily work.
