ISSP UL attending the European Hydrogen Valleys Investment Forum 2024

ISSP UL researcher from the Energy Materials Laboratory Ainars Knoks attended the European Hydrogen Valleys Investment Forum 2024 in Riga, Latvia, on September 5-6th.

The event focused on the hydrogen industry at various scales, featuring discussions on large-scale projects and key industry players. During the forum, the ISSP UL reinforced its position in the hydrogen sector and established or renewed partnerships with companies like Dinex Latvia and TET. The ISSP UL representative also engaged in further discussions with Fokker Next Gen regarding short- and long-term, mutually beneficial plans. Additional talks with ISSP UL’s established partners, Latvenergo and the Latvian Hydrogen Association, were carried out during this event.

To explore potential developments, the ISSP UL formed new connections with companies such as PowerUP, Stoff2, and the Baltic Hydrogen Group. Ainārs Knoks also held discussions with venture capital representatives to assess the necessary Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) and overall preparedness for potential funding opportunities. Most agencies are seeking technologies at TRL 5-6 with substantial funding requirements. ISSP UL should develop a clear pathway for scientists to achieve the necessary TRL, enhancing spinout opportunities.

The European Hydrogen Valleys Investment Forum 2024 program fosters meaningful connections, strategic partnerships, and (co-)investments within the hydrogen sectors. The program culminates in a live event bringing together the most promising emerging companies, meticulously selected by a Selection Panel, alongside investors, corporate partners, and industry experts.
